Murdered sister and dumped body in sack 70 km away from home; youth arrested

GORAKHPUR: A youth has been arrested for murdering his sister and dumping the body in a sack. The shocking incident took place in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Ram Ashish Nishad (32) was arrested for murdering his 19-year-old sister Neelam.

Ram's father had received Rs 6 lakh as compensation for giving up land for a road construction project. According to the police, Ram committed the murder because he was angry that the money would be used for his sister's wedding. The accused allegedly strangled Neelam with a cloth, broke her body, and packed it in a sack, which he tied to his bike. While on his way to Kushinagar to dispose of the body, he was stopped by the police.

Ram, who told the police that the sack contained wheat, later dumped it in a field in Kushinagar, about 70 kilometres from Gorakhpur. After Neelam went missing, her father lodged a missing complaint with the police. During the investigation, CCTV footage surfaced showing Ram travelling with the sack. Upon questioning, he admitted to the crime, after which he was taken into custody.
