MUMBAI: An ambulance carrying a pregnant woman caught fire after the oxygen cylinder exploded in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra. The pregnant woman and her family had a narrow escape. The engine caught fire and then the oxygen cylinder exploded soon.
The accident happened when the pregnant woman and her family were being taken to Jalgaon District Hospital from Erandol Government Hospital in the ambulance. The incident took place on a flyover on the national highway in Dada Wadi area. The footage of the ambulance catching fire is being widely circulated on social media.
A major accident was averted when the driver saw the smoke emanating from the engine. The driver stopped the vehicle and then asked the pregnant woman and her family to get off the vehicle. The engine caught fire after everyone disembarked from the vehicle. The explosion was so strong that windows of some nearby houses were shattered.
