NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) recorded the arrest of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, the mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack case. The arrest was recorded at the Delhi airport. Photos of Rana standing with NIA officials have also been released. Tahawwur Hussain Rana was brought to Palam Air Force Airport.
The NIA stated that NSJ commandos and other agencies cooperated in bringing Rana to India. Rana will be produced in court online. NIA lawyers have reached Patiala House Court, while the Delhi Police have beefed up security arrangements in front of the NIA office. Piyush Sachdeva, an advocate with the Delhi Legal Services Society, will appear for Rana.
US President Donald Trump signed an order to extradite Rana to India in February this year. A special plane carrying Rana arrived at the Air Force base in Delhi on Thursday evening. Earlier reports said that he would be taken to the NIA office in a bulletproof vehicle as soon as the plane arrived. After the formalities, he will be shifted to the high-security block of Tihar Jail. It is reported that a 12-member team of the NIA is questioning Rana. The team includes two IGs, one DIG, and one SP. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson evaded media questions, terming Rana as a Canadian having no links to Pakistan.
