ISLAMABAD: Tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack. Mighty powers, including the United States and Russia, announced support for India, while other big names, including Turkey and China, took a stance lenient towards Pakistan.
With a military retaliation on cards, Pakistan has reportedly received advanced weapons from China and Turkey. China has reportedly provided weapons and long-range missiles to Pakistan on a wartime basis. The latest JF-17 Block III fighter jets released by the Pakistan Army are equipped with China's PL-15 Beyond Visual Range missiles, with a range of 200 to 300 kilometres.
A Turkish Air Force C-130 Hercules military aircraft carrying military equipment arrived in Karachi on Sunday. It is also reported that six Turkish warplanes landed at a military base in Islamabad.
Turkey coming to Pakistan's aid is no surprise, considering the aggravating tensions close to the Indian border and Pakistan’s lack of defensive prowess to handle it all alone. Turkey and Pakistan have confirmed the transfer of military goods, but have not disclosed further details of the shipment. Turkey's support is in line with China's offer of military assistance.
Turkey has already provided military assistance, including drones, to Pakistan.
