NEW DELHI: India has suspended imports from Pakistan, which was behind the Pahalgam terror attack, in its next move to teach them a lesson. Ships flying the Pakistani flag are not allowed to enter Indian ports. Letters and parcels have also been banned. Indian ships have also been banned from going to Pakistan.
No matter what goods, whether originating from Pakistan or exported from it, they cannot be brought into India. The ban will apply whether the export is directly or indirectly through other countries. Exports of Pakistani goods to other countries via India have also been banned. With this, India is completely putting an end to bilateral trade relations with Pakistan.
The notification by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry says that the move was taken considering national security and public interest.
Although a 200% duty has been imposed on all goods imported from Pakistan, including fruits, petroleum products and cement, this is the first time since the Pulwama attack in 2019 that such a drastic step as severing trade relations has been taken.
