AGRA: A school teacher has been arrested for threatening a young woman at gunpoint. The incident took place in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The arrested person has been identified as Shyamveer Singh, a teacher at a school in Baldev, Mathura.
Police said Shyamveer was travelling in his car when he stopped a 22-year-old woman riding a scooter and harassed her. He allegedly offered her Rs 5,000 if she got into his car. When she refused, he tried to forcefully pull her inside. Hearing her screams, locals rushed to the spot, at which point Shyamveer threatened her with a gun. The woman, however, managed to grab the car keys and prevent him from escaping with the vehicle. Shyamveer then fled the scene on foot. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.
Based on the woman’s complaint, police arrested Shyamveer Singh and seized his licensed pistol and car. Officials said they will request the cancellation of his gun license. Police are also searching for another man who was with him at the time of the incident.
