NEW DELHI: Days after LoP Rahul Gandhi’s explosive allegations of ‘Vote Chori’, the ruling BJP hit back in the same coin, alleging election fraud in Wayanad constituency in Kerala.
BJP leader and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur has alleged that fake voting took place in the Wandoor, Eranad, Kalpetta and Thiruvambadi assembly constituencies of the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency.
“There are 93,499 suspicious voters in Wayanad. This includes 20,438 fake voters and 17,450 voters with fake addresses. 51,365 voters were added to the voters' list before the elections. Rae Bareli, Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha constituency, also has more than two lakh suspicious voters. 19,512 fake voters and 92,747 voters were included here lately. There are strange anomalies in the voter list. More than 52,000 fake birth certificates are linked to fake addresses,” said Anurag Thakur.
Rahul Gandhi's allegations of fake voting in various constituencies during the last Lok Sabha elections created ripples politically in India. Amidst the Congress protest, BJP released the figures in Wayanad, giving headaches to Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.
The Congress, meanwhile, started a web portal called Votechori.in to use the issue as a propaganda tool on social media and to gain support for the election fraud allegation.
