SRINAGAR: Pakistan continued to violate the ceasefire for the fourth consecutive day amid tensions on the Line of Control (LoC). The Indian army has reportedly retaliated strongly. No casualties have been reported. People living near the Rajouri and Poonch sectors have evacuated the area. Pakistan has violated the ceasefire in Poonch and Kupwara.

Social activist Ghulam Rasool Magre (45) was shot dead by terrorists in Kupwara the other day. They barged into his house in Kandi Khas in Kupwara around midnight on Saturday and killed him. Ghulam, who was shot in the stomach and left hand, was immediately taken to Handwara Hospital but could not be saved. The reason behind the attack is not clear. Authorities had informed that an investigation has been launched into the incident and that forces have been deployed in the area.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the security forces have found terrorists who escaped into the forest after the Pahalgam attack at four places. There are indications that there was a gunfight at one place. It is also reported that the terrorists, who are currently moving through the Tral-Kokernag area, have been looking for food in houses from time to time. A search is underway for the terrorists in the dense forest and in the cities of nearby districts.
