MUMBAI: Two doctors have been arrested for falsifying the blood test report of the 17-year-old accused in the Pune Porsche car accident. Doctors at Sassoon Hospital, Pune, Dr Ajay Tawade and Dr Hari Harnor were arrested by the crime branch. Dr Tawade is the head of the forensic lab at the government hospital Sassoon. After the arrest, the phones of the two doctors were seized. The investigation revealed that on the day of the accident, Dr Tawade and the 17-year-old's father talked on the phone.

Earlier, the 17-year-old's blood test showed that he was not drunk. However, CCTV footage of the student drinking with his friends at a bar was released. The Pune Police Commissioner had also stated that the child's blood was tested at different places to get accurate results. The first test was negative and the second test was positive. DNA tests were conducted after the reports became suspicious. DNA tests showed that the two samples belonged to two different individuals. This led the police to confirm that the test results were tampered with.

The 17-year-old caused an accident on May 19 while speeding at over 200 km/h after drinking with his friends in a Porsche Taycan worth Rs 2.5 crores. Two 24-year-old IT employees died in the accident. Anish and Ashwini, both 24-year-old engineers were returning from a pub on a two-wheeler when they were hit by the speeding car. Both died on the spot. The 17-year-old accused in the case is the son of a prominent real estate businessman in Pune.

As soon as the accident happened, residents caught the 17-year-old and his friends. Later, he was arrested by the police and brought to the Juvenile Justice Board but the punishment was merely to write a 300-word essay explaining the cause of the accident. He was released after 15 hours causing a strong protest.

In the case, the father of the 17-year-old, a real estate businessman and his grandfather, Surendra Agarwal, who forced an employee to take the blame for the accident, as well as two employees of the bar where the 17-year-old was drinking, were earlier arrested.
