Renowned model San Rachel found dead; known for taking bold stance against colour discrimination

CHENNAI: Popular model and social media influencer San Rachel (26) was found dead in Puducherry. The preliminary conclusion is that she committed suicide. San Rachel had recently gotten married. She had gained attention in the past for her bold stance against colour-based discrimination.

According to police sources, she consumed a large number of pills after returning to her father's house. Reports suggest she had been going through severe financial difficulties.

Police believe a combination of financial burden and personal stress may have led to the suicide. In recent times, San had reportedly pawned and sold jewellery to meet her needs. It is also reported that she had hoped for financial support from her father, but he was unwilling to help.

A suicide note recovered from the scene stated that no one was responsible for her death. Police said they will investigate whether there were any marital issues. In 2022, San Rachel had won the Miss Puducherry title.
