RJD leader Rajkumar Rai shot dead by unidentified assailants

PATNA: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Rajkumar Rai, aka Allah Rai, was shot dead by unidentified assailants near his residence in Chitragupt Nagar in Patna on Wednesday night. According to the police, the RJD leader was shot by two unidentified assailants.

The RJD leader's murder comes just ahead of the state assembly elections. Reports suggest that Rajkumar had planned to contest from the Raghopur constituency. Police said a detailed investigation is underway. The preliminary conclusion is that a land dispute led to the attack. Rajkumar was involved in land-related businesses.

The police team, which arrived at the spot after the incident, rushed Rajkumar to the hospital, where doctors confirmed his death. Six cartridges were recovered from the crime scene. CCTV footage from nearby cameras showing the murder has been collected by the police. Patna Eastern SP Parichay Kumar said the culprits would be arrested soon. A forensic team also conducted an inspection at the site.
