BENGALURU: The investigating officers have taken the stand that the diary of C J Roy, chairman of the Confident Group, cannot be considered as a suicide note. The officials said the contents of the diary cannot be considered as a suicide note since it was not recovered from the room where the death occurred. The officials also stated that there is no evidence of anyone forcibly entering Roy’s cabin. Statements will soon be recorded from Roy’s wife Lini Roy, his brother C J Babu, and company managing director T A Joseph, all familiar with Roy’s business affairs.

Meantime, there are contradictions in the statements obtained by the investigation team. T A Joseph had stated that Roy came to the company headquarters along with him on the afternoon of January 30. However, security personnel said Roy had arrived by around 2 pm. There is no clarity on whether Roy had spoken to income tax officials. As the CCTV camera near the cabin was not functioning, it is also unclear when Roy entered the cabin.

The diary contained a nine-page note, which included instructions on how to run the company and appeals not to abandon long time investors and employees. Roy also apologized to his family and others who loved him. He shot himself dead in his room at his company headquarters on Friday. The diary was recovered during subsequent searches conducted at his home and office.
