'Rs 11 for just two kilometeres'; Delhi metro revises ticket rates after eight years

NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for the first time in eight years increased the fare of metro tickets. The last hike was made during 2017. The revised fares came into effect from Monday. The increase ranges from Rs 1 to Rs 4. The increase on the Airport Line is from Rs 1 to Rs 5.

With the increase, the minimum fare in Delhi Metro has increased from Rs 10 to Rs 11. This fare is for a journey of up to two kilometers. On Sundays and public holidays, people will be able to travel up to five kilometers for Rs 11. Meanwhile, the unannounced fare hike has led to protests by commuters.

Up to 2 km Rs 11, 2 to 5 km Rs 21, 5-12 km Rs 32, 12-21 km Rs 43, 21-32 km Rs 54, above 32 km Rs 64.

Sundays and public holidays fares: Up to 5 km Rs 11, 5-12 km Rs 21, 12-21 km Rs 32, 21-32 km Rs 43, above 32 km Rs 54.
