SRINAGAR: Security forces have busted a terrorist hideout at Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir. Explosives were recovered, military sources said. A massive search is underway for the terrorists who shot dead 26 Pahalgam. The explosives were recovered during this search.
The hideout was found during a joint search conducted by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the forest area of Surankot in Poonch. Reports said that three of the explosives recovered were hidden in tiffin boxes and two in steel buckets. Apart from this, two radio sets, binoculars and clothes have been recovered.
Security forces have launched a large-scale anti-terror operation across the valley. Suspected locations are being searched. The houses of the terrorists have also been razed. Hundreds of people have been detained for questioning.
The terrorist attack took place on April 22 in Baisaran, a popular tourist destination near Pahalgam in Anantnag. Twenty-six people, including Malayalees, were killed. Most of them were tourists from other states. The attack has escalated tensions between India and Pakistan.
