DEHRADUN: Six people died and many others sustained injuries in a stampede at the Mansa Devi temple at Haridwar in Uttarakhand. The incident happened Sunday morning. Rescue operations are progressing in the temple premises. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the incident that happened is being monitored closely. He responded on his X handle. Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey has given an explanation to the media on the incident.
There are also reports that an overhead power line broke and fell on a busy part of the pavement. The condition of two people admitted to the hospital is critical. Mansa Devi Temple is one of the five holy temples in Haridwar. The temple is located on top of the Shivalik hills. The temple is 500 feet high. Every year, a large number of devotees visit Haridwar during the month of Shravan. Mansa Devi Temple is one of the temples where devotees visit. It is reported that the accident was caused after more devotees arrived this time than the temple authorities expected.
