NEW DELHI: A passenger questioned an Air India Express pilot who had skipped the security check area at the Delhi airport. The enraged pilot brutally attacked the SpiceJet passenger. The incident came to light when the passenger shared a picture of himself standing in a pool of blood on social media.
Air India Express has suspended pilot Virender Sejwal after the aviation ministry directed Air India to take action in the incident. The pilot attacked a passenger named Ankit Devan, who was travelling with a baby. The incident took place on Saturday at Terminal 1. Ankit and his family were directed by the airline staff to the security check-in line reserved for employees to complete the security check-in process quickly, as he was travelling with a four-month-old baby. Ankit says that while he was standing in queue, the pilot skipped the line and walked ahead.
When Ankit questioned this, the pilot insulted him and asked if he could not read the board. During the argument, Ankit was slapped in the face. The passenger said that the attack took place in front of his family and that his seven-year-old daughter, who had to witness the attack, is in a state of severe mental trauma. He alleged that no action was taken even after he complained to the CISF, which was in charge of security. Air India Express strongly condemned the incident.
