TDP-BJP alliance sweeps in Andhra Pradesh, YSR loses ground

AMARAVATI: Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Congress lost ground in Andhra Pradesh, where assembly elections were held along with the Lok Sabha elections. The TDP-BJP alliance has made huge strides in the Legislative Assembly and the Lok Sabha. Andhra Pradesh witnessed the grand comeback of Chandrababu Naidu. This victory is a sweet revenge for Naidu against Jagan. TDP's move is to take oath on the same day that Jagan decided to take oath and made preparations.

TDP has announced that Chandrababu Naidu will take oath on June 9. The TDP alliance is leading in 163 constituencies in the 175-member assembly, according to the latest figures. TDP is leading in 134 seats, allies Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena Party in 21 seats and BJP in eight seats. Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Congress is leading in just 12 seats.

Lok Sabha election results are no different. Andhra has 25 Lok Sabha constituencies. Jagan's party managed to advance in only four of these constituencies. TDP's ally BJP has advanced in three places while Jana Sena is ahead in two places. TDP won 16 seats.

Chandrababu Naidu entered the fray knowing that if he did not win the state administration and the majority of the Lok Sabha seats, it would be the end of his life politically. Naidu was ready to make big compromises by joining the BJP, which had little influence in state politics. TDP reserved six seats for BJP and two seats for Jana Sena in the Lok Sabha.
