SURAT: A female teacher has been arrested in connection with the abduction and sexual assault of a 13-year-old boy she used to teach. The incident took place in Surat, Gujarat. The 23-year-old woman was arrested following a complaint filed by the boy's parents. Charges have been filed under the POCSO Act.
The woman had been tutoring the boy for about five years. Both the teacher and the student went missing on April 26. Following this, the boy's father filed a complaint with the police alleging that the teacher had abducted his son. During the subsequent investigation, the police received a tip-off that the duo was returning to Gujarat in a luxury bus from Jaipur, Rajasthan. Acting on the information, Surat police intercepted the bus and located the teacher and the boy.
Investigations revealed that the teacher had recently developed a romantic relationship with the minor and had also engaged in physical intimacy with him. As a result, she has been charged under sections of the POCSO Act, along with abduction-related charges. The two had stayed in a hotel after reaching Ahmedabad before travelling to Delhi and then Jaipur. The teacher and the student were taken to the hospital for medical examination before being presented in court.
