There is another reason for Zuckerberg attending Anand Ambani's pre-wedding celebrations; Meta to setup first data centre in India

Reliance Industries owner Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani's son Anand Ambani's pre-wedding celebrations were held in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The world's top businessmen and Bollywood and Hollywood stars attended the three-day celebrations ahead of the grand wedding in July.

Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg had also joined the celebration. Zuckerberg came to India not just for the wedding celebration. According to reports, Zuckerberg held discussions with Ambani regarding setting up Meta's first data centre in India at the Reliance Industries campus in Chennai. The data centre aims to create local content for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Meta can operate four to five nodes in multiple locations in the country. It helps in the data processing of the company. Currently, Meta's data centre for its Indian customers is in Singapore. However, setting up a data centre in India is expected to help improve user service, reduce transmission costs and increase local advertising.

Reliance Industries' 10-acre campus is located in Ambattur Industrial Estate, Chennai. It is a joint venture between Brookfield Asset Management, Reliance Industries and Digital Realty. It can provide an IT load capacity of up to 100 MW.

META is reportedly aiming to build greenfield data centres in key locations including Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi NCR. Facebook currently has 314.6 million users in India. Instagram has 350 million users and WhatsApp has 480 million users. This is double that of the United States.
