Nikitha Godishala murder: Ex-boyfriend Arjun arrested from Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: A youngster who fled to India after allegedly murdering his former girlfriend in the US has been arrested in Tamil Nadu. Arjun Sharma (26), the accused, was arrested in Tamil Nadu in the murder of Nikitha Godishala (27), a data analyst in the US.

Arjun was taken into custody by the police with the help of Interpol. Arjun will be extradited to the US soon. US federal agencies were on a hunt for Arjun after Nikitha was found murdered. After confirming that the accused had crossed over to India, information was shared with Interpol and investigative agencies in India.

Subsequently, the accused was found in Tamil Nadu after a joint operation by investigative agencies in India and the US. Arjun had filed a complaint with the Howard County Police on January 2, saying that Nikitha was missing. Arjun said that he had last seen Nikita on New Year's Day. However, the day after the complaint was filed, Arjun flew to India from the US. This raised suspicions, and the police searched Arjun's apartment on Maryland Twin Towers Road. During the search conducted on January 3, Nikitha's body was found inside the apartment with stab wounds.
