CHENNAI: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay has sought permission to visit Karur. Vijay has sent an email to the state DGP in this regard. In the email, he has requested that he wants to meet the families of the victims and provide compensation. Vijay had spoken to the families of those who lost their lives in the stampede in Karur on a video call on WhatsApp yesterday.

Vijay was criticized for not personally visiting the families of the victims. While talking to a family of one of the victims, he consoled them saying, 'I am like your son.' The reports that came earlier said that although Vijay did not personally visit, his party members would call on the families.

41 people had lost their lives and over 60 injured in the stampede that broke out on September 27 during Vijay's political rally in Karur.
