Union Budget 2026: Rare earth corridors in four states including Kerala, project announced

NEW DELHI: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has begun presenting the third Budget of the third Modi government. The Minister said that India has achieved economic growth and stability, and also stated that poverty has been reduced in the country.

The minister announced a special corridor project for rare earth mining (mineral sand mining) in Odisha, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. She said that the project aims to increase mining and processing activities in these states.

Nirmala Sitharaman has created history by presenting the Union Budget for the ninth consecutive time. This is the first time since 1999 that the Union Budget is being presented on a Sunday. Earlier in the morning, the Finance Minister met President Droupadi Murmu. She reached Parliament after presenting the Budget to the President.
