Vehicle falls down 700 feet deep gorge; three soldiers dead in Jammu and Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Three soldiers died after their military vehicle fell into a gorge. The accident occurred around 11.30 am near Battery Chashma in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir. Sepoys Amit Kumar, Sujeet Kumar and Mann Bahadur were killed. The vehicle fell into a 700-feet deep gorge.

The truck that was part of a convoy going from Jammu to Srinagar met with the accident. The vehicle was completely destroyed. Efforts are on to retrieve the bodies of the soldiers. The Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the State Disaster Response Force are jointly carrying out the rescue operation.

An army truck had fallen into a deep gorge in Bandipora district on January 4. Six soldiers were in the truck and four died in this accident.

A similar accident had occurred in Ramban district earlier. A goods vehicle carrying vegetables had slipped off the road and fell into a deep gorge in March leading to the death of two people.
