NEW DELHI: The Karnataka Election Commission has sent a notice to Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi for alleging irregularities in the voter list. The notice claims that the document shown by Rahul Gandhi at the press conference is not Election Commission data.
Rahul had said that, as per the documents provided by the polling officer, a woman named Shakun Rani had voted twice. However, the commission said that Shakun Rani had voted only once and asked for proof that she voted twice. EC said that the preliminary investigation has revealed that the tick-marked document shown by Rahul Gandhi is not the document given by the polling officer. A notice was sent to Rahul based on this. The commission's move to issue the notice comes after Rahul Gandhi's allegations were widely discussed.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that there was massive rigging in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with the help of the Election Commission. Rahul had also released evidence indicating that one lakh fake votes were added in one Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka alone. The Election Commission had asked Rahul Gandhi to submit an affidavit under oath about the irregularities.
