Since India’s Independence in 1947, Pakistan has tried all tricks from books to penetrate the Indian borders illegally. Despite abetting terrorism, Pakistan had the luxury of an ever-filling arsenal stacked with military equipment, thanks to global superpowers including the US and China. These countries used to provide arms and military vehicles to Pakistan's military, mostly during the 1960s.

Democratic Party members and American Senators Quentin Burdick and Vance Hartke once while visiting India received the shock of their lives. Arriving in Amritsar, Punjab, near the India-Pakistan border, they were shocked to find nearly 100 American-made Patton tanks lying in ruins. All of these were captured by India from Pakistan.

Pakistan used these tanks in the operation 'Asal Uttar' that took place from September 8 to 10, 1965. Pakistan used the M47 and M48 model tanks bought from the United States to defeat India, so as to deal with threats on the Pakistan-Afghan border. However, things went awry as the Pak army was humbled by the mighty Indian forces.

America came to know about the humiliation and demanded an explanation from Pakistan. Pak efforts to comfort the allies went in vain and senators left the place red-faced. India destroyed Pakistan using Centurion model Patton tanks.
