TIANJIN: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held bilateral talks. Modi told Xi Jinping that the two countries are committed to taking India-China relations forward based on mutual trust, respect and sensitivity.
The talks held between Modi and Xi Jinping at Kazan in Russia in October 2024 were fruitful. Last year, our talks in Kazan gave a positive direction to our relations. Following the military withdrawal on the border, an atmosphere of peace and stability was created,' Modi said.
The Prime Minister also spoke about the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra to the Tibetan region has resumed and direct flights to the two countries will resume. Modi added that cooperation between India and China has benefited the 2.8 billion people of both countries. The two leaders held talks for about an hour.
Modi is visiting China for the first time in seven years. He arrived in China yesterday to attend the Shanghai Summit. He will be there today and tomorrow. He will also hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump imposed a 50% import duty on India for buying Russian oil. On Friday, Modi had said in Japan that he is ready to unite with China with an open mind.
