NEW DELHI: Jagdeep Dhankhar vacated his official residence six weeks after resigning from the post of Vice President. Dhankhar moved to his friend INLD leader Abhay Chautala's farmhouse in Chhatarpur on the Delhi border. He will remain here until the government allows a residence to the former Vice President.
This is the first time that Dhankhar stepped out of his residence after resigning on July 21, just before the start of the monsoon session. He went out to see a dentist at the Dhaula Kuan hospital on Monday. He left for his new residence around 5 pm. Dhankhar, who avoided public gatherings after resigning, had not been in contact with anyone. The opposition had alleged that the former Vice President was under house arrest. Abhay Chautala confirmed that Dhankhar was given a farmhouse.
As a former Vice President, Dhankar is entitled to a Type-8 bungalow and a monthly pension of Rs 2 lakh. In addition, he has applied for the restoration of his pension as a former MLA of Rajasthan. This pension was stopped in 2019 when he was appointed as the Governor of West Bengal. If it is restored, he will get Rs 42,000 per month. In addition, as a Vice President, he will have a personal secretary, an additional personal secretary, a personal assistant, a doctor, a nursing officer and four personal attendants in his staff. Dhankhar's Z-plus security will also continue.
