BHUBANESWAR: A 21-year-old woman was gang-raped in a moving van and thrown on the road in Odisha. The woman was gang-raped by six men who lured her with a promise of a job. The incident took place on Friday within the Udala police station limits.
Two people have been taken into custody in the case, and the search for the remaining accused is ongoing. The rape took place on the Udala-Balasore road between 6 am and 7 am on Friday. All the accused are natives of the village Sarat.
The woman was friends with two of the accused. The woman met them at a function earlier this year. They had also exchanged mobile numbers. Both of them assured that they would get her a job in a private company. Four of their friends joined them as they reached the woman's house on Friday. They persuaded her to come with them for work-related purposes.
While they were travelling in the van, the six men took turns to rape her. The accused left the woman on the road after she started crying loudly. After getting dumped on the road, the woman called her mother and shared her shocking ordeal. The mother rushed to the spot and took her daughter straight to the police station, where the complaint was filed.
