LUCKNOW: Recent reports are claiming that the BJP might soon remove Yogi Adityanath from the post of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. Rumours in this regard became rife after UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, who has reportedly been at odds with Yogi, held a meeting with BJP national chief JP Nadda. However, Maurya has not yet responded to the media after the meeting in Delhi. It is also reported that Nadda may meet Uttar Pradesh BJP president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary soon.
Yogi's opponents started clamouring for his removal as Chief Minister following the BJP's poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections in the state. Many people claimed that Yogi's incompetence was the reason behind the BJP's defeat in Ayodhya and the reduction in the Prime Minister's majority in Varanasi.
On June 14, Keshav Prasad Maurya had taken a dig at Yogi Adityanath while speaking at BJP's one-day state working committee meeting.
"The organization is bigger than the government, The party's structure and cadre character will be given more importance than the government. All ministers, MLAs and other people's representatives should respect party workers and uphold their dignity. My door is always open to everyone," he said.
However, Yogi Adityanath said that overconfidence was the reason behind the setback suffered by the party. He also said that the BJP's failure to properly counter the opposition's false propaganda also contributed to the party's poor performance in the state.
