SRINAGAR: A youth vandalised a temple after annoyed by the practice of black magic. The incident happened on Sunday in Jammu and Kashmir. The youth was arrested within hours of the incident. The youth identified as Arjun Sharma confessed to the magistrate that some members of the community were practising black magic inside the temple and that he was annoyed over it and so committed the attack.

This is the second attack on a place of worship in Jammu in a week. 43 people were detained by the police for attacking a place of worship in Reasi district on June 30.


The attack took place at a temple in Narain Khoo on Saturday night. The police received a complaint that idols were desecrated and carpets etc were set on fire. Later, the police team, forensic experts, crime branch officials and police dogs reached the spot. Arjun Sharma was arrested after an initial investigation conducted.

The police said the arrest of the accused in a short span of time prevented a major protest. SP Brijesh Sharma said the people remained calm by allowing the police to conduct the investigation. The accused was disturbed by the practice of blackmagic inside the temple. Moreover, the SP added that the accused had enmity with the village headman as well.
