BENGALURU: Bengaluru residents who woke up on Wednesday might have blinked twice to check the surroundings as the locality resembled Srinagar in Kashmir and not South India. On Tuesday evening, certain parts of the capital city, including Yelahanka, Devanahalli, Sanjay Nagar, Lottegollahalli, RMV II Stage, BEL Road and parts of Vidyaranyapura, witnessed a hailstorm for 15 minutes, leaving the streets hazy with pebbles on the tarmac. Buildings in the region were blanketed by fog.
The residents said that they noticed the hailstorm by the clattering noise and the sudden drop in temperatures around Tuesday evening. According to reports. Intense surface heat creates strong upward air currents (updrafts) inside thunderstorms during hot weather, leading to hailstorms.
It rained in Bengaluru till 8 30 on Tuesday night. Many called the hailstorm 'magical' and unprecedented in recent times in the garden city of India.
