PATHANAMTHITTA: A complaint has been filed against excise officials in connection with the suicide of a youth. Vishnu (27) of Pazhakulam in Pathanamthitta, was unhappy after the excuse officials thrashed him brutally. His family alleged that the Parakode excise team, who arrived at their house on Thursday morning in connection with a ganja case, thrashed him brutally after making him stand in underwear.

Vishnu had earlier said that he is not involved in the ganja case and that he would commit suicide. His neighbour said Vishnu had told him that the police and the excise used to misbehave with him badly. His mother told media that the officials tortured him brutally. ‘The excise team woke up Vishnu, who was sleeping in his room, and then made him stand in his underwear and was beaten severely. He asked the excise team why they are beating him. His relative said that Vishnu told him that he is going to end his life as he could not live anymore due to shame.’

Meantime, excise deputy commissioner informed that a report has been sought from the circle inspector (excise) on the incident. The excise authorities said that they had not taken the youth into custody nor had entered his house. Ganja was seized from the hands of Vishnu's neighbour. As part of it, visited his house to ask some things.
