KOLLAM: Kollam resident Dhanya Mohan, the main accused in the case of extorting 20 crores from Thrissur Valapad Manappuram Comptech and Consultants Limited, has surrendered. Dhanya Mohan surrendered at Kollam East Police Station. The accused was taken from the station for medical examination.
Dhanya Mohan, a native of Thirumullavaram Nellimukku, Kollam, is the Assistant General Manager at Manappuram Comptech and Consultants Limited. She has been an employee of the organization for the past 18 years. According to the police, since May 2020, Dhanya has siphoned off Rs 19.94 crore from the company's digital personal loan account by making fake loans.
The fraud was done by transferring money to various accounts of her father and brother. Realizing that she would be caught, Dhanya left the office feigning physical difficulties and escaped with the help of someone else.
Dhanya is believed to have bought luxury goods, land and a house. She has lived in a house near the Thirupazhancheri temple for 18 years. Dhanya was staying here before she went into hiding as well.
