80-year-old woman brutally assaulted by drunken neighbour in Malappuram

MALAPPURAM: An 80-year-old woman was brutally assaulted by a drunken neighbour in Nilambur. The incident took place at the Pattathodi house in CH Nagar, Nilambur, where Indrani Teacher was attacked. Shaji, a neighbour who had been entrusted by her son to care for her, is the one responsible for the assault.

Upon hearing about the incident, the Vice Chairperson of Nilambur Municipality and the Ward Councillor arrived at the scene and assisted in taking Indrani to Nilambur District Hospital. A formal complaint was also lodged with the Nilambur police. Neighbours had recorded the assault, and the footage has since been made public. The video shows clear signs of injury on her body, including bite marks on her face. Doctors have confirmed facial injuries, and further physical examinations are underway.

Indrani, a former dance teacher, was reportedly under the care of Shaji while her son was away for work. The neighbours rushed to the scene after hearing Indrani's cries. The police and local officials arrived shortly after being informed by the neighbours, and Indrani was taken to the hospital. The Vice Chairperson of the Municipality commented that her son had not been looking after her.
