Adivasi youth stabbed to death in Idukki in drunken brawl

IDUKKI: An Adivasi youth was stabbed to death in Poochapra. The dead has been identified as Valiyamplakkal Balan (Krishnan) died. Police said a dispute while consuming liquor led to the murder.

The incident happened near the school in Poochpra at around 8 pm on Saturday. The police said Jayan, Balan’s neighbour, stabbed him.

The police have started a search for the accused Jayan who ran to the nearby hill with the help of the locals. Jayan, accused in several criminal cases, had hacked Balan a few years ago. The police are also investigating whether the only reason behind the murder was a drunken dispute.
