Another assault on TTE in state; Thiruvananthapuram resident in custody

TIRUR: TTE beaten up again inside the train. The incident took place on the Mangalore-Thiruvananthapuram Maveli Express. The attack occurred as the train was approaching Tirur last night. The accused, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, has been taken into custody by the police. TTE Vikram Kumar Meena, a native of Rajasthan was injured in the assault. Meena stated that the passenger assaulted him when he asked for the ticket hitting him on the nose.

Last April, a passenger killed TTE Vinod of the Patna Express, shocking the nation. This new incident has occurred before the recent change. The accused killed Vinod by pushing him from the moving train. The incident took place in Thrissur's Velappaya and the motive for the murder was a dispute over a ticket. The accused, a foreign worker named Rajinikanth is in custody.

The Palakkad Railway Police arrested Rajinikanth. Authorities mentioned that the accused is a regular alcoholic. Incidents involving foreign workers being implicated in crimes inside trains have been increasing in Kerala recently, with theft being the most commonly reported offence. Following Vinod's murder, there were several news reports detailing attacks on TTEs.
