Businessman arrested for sexually abusing woman on pretext of marriage, coerced for abortion

KANNUR: A businessman was arrested on the complaint of sexually abusing a woman on the pretext of marriage. The complaint also asserted that she was threatened to undergo an abortion. The arrested is Sujith (52) of Kizhunna in Kannur. He was arrested by the Edakkad Police. A 35-year-old woman from Kottayam filed the complaint against Sujith.

The woman in her complaint said that she was abused between 2015 and 2020 in Dubai. Sujith had established a relationship with the woman, who was in a top post in Dubai. The two engaged in a physical relationship after he promised to marry her. In the meantime, he made her invest Rs 16 crore in his company. When the woman understood that she was pregnant, she demanded marriage. Sujith pressured her for an abortion. Although she had an abortion after being threatened, he shied away from the marriage. Her complaint said Sujith later fled from Dubai.

The woman in her complaint alleged that she was sexually abused on the pretext of marriage, coerced abortion and extorted money. The man arrested by the Edakkad police was produced in the court and remanded.
