KALPETTA: A crime branch probe has been ordered into the death of a 24-year-old youth of Wayanad, who committed suicide by jumping into the river. The dead is Rathin (24) of Mangani Colony in Anchukunnu. Wayanad SP ordered a crime branch investigation. The youth was an auto driver.
The allegations against the police will also be investigated in the incident. As part of this, a departmental preliminary investigation has been started. The crime branch will be investigating the case registered by Kamblakkad police against Rathin for allegedly creating trouble in public place.
In a search conducted for the missing youth, his auto was found near the river. The body of the youth was recovered from the river in a search conducted by the people.
His relatives said Rathin had hinted of death and had made a video explaining the cause of his death. The police had caught Rathin while he was talking to a girl. The relatives said the police had threatened him saying that they would include him in a POCSO case. The youth committed suicide by jumping into the river after posting a video related to this on social media. However, the Kamblakkad police claim that it was just a misunderstanding and that the case was registered for creating trouble in a public place.
A departmental inquiry will be led by Kalpetta DySP on the complaint of his relatives that the Kamblakkad police threatened to file a POCSO case. The action comes after the special branch conducted an investigation into the incident. The SP ordered both the investigations. The SP said the investigation is being conducted
