CHOTTANIKKARA: Police have filed a chargesheet in the case of the POCSO case victim who died after being brutally abused by her male friend. The police have filed a 120-page chargesheet in the Chottanikkara Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. The girl's boyfriend, Anoop, has been charged with rape, culpable homicide and causing injuries with weapons.

The hammer, belt and shawl used to attack the girl have been submitted as evidence by the police. The police have stated that the CCTV footage of the accused visiting the girl's house on the day of the incident is also crucial.

The POCSO survivor was found unconscious inside the house on January 26. The girl, who was on a ventilator for six days, succumbed to her death at a private hospital in Ernakulam. Anoop, who is accused in a ganja case and assault case, had been in a relationship with the girl for about a year. The girl has only her mother. She was staying in a flat for widows of ex-servicemen in Kakkanad.

Anoop came to the girl's house at night and brutally beat her. When the girl threatened to commit suicide and hung herself, Anoop said, "Go and kill yourself." When the girl hung herself from the fan, Anoop cut the shawl. The cause of death was a serious head injury sustained when she fell down. Anoop did not like the girl talking to other friends. He came to the girl's house because he could not reach her on the phone. As soon as the girl opened the door, Anoop asked her who she was talking to and beat her.

The postmortem report stated that the cause of brain death was due to the shawl being tightened around her neck. The report also stated that the girl had been sexually assaulted.
