Dispute over getting father's job: Younger brother stabbed to death by elder brother

KOLLAM: In a shocking incident, an elder brother stabbed his younger brother to death following an argument over inheriting their deceased father's job. The deceased has been identified as Linchu (35), also known as Roy, from Jinchubhavan in Aishwarya Nagar, Karikode. He was stabbed by his brother Jinchu. The incident took place last night at around 9:45 PM.

Linchu, who died, was an accused in several criminal cases. The brothers, both of whom frequently came home drunk, often fought with each other. On Tuesday night as well, they had an argument in front of their house.

In the heat of the moment, Jinchu stabbed Linchu with a knife he got hold of. Though Linchu, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to the district hospital, his life could not be saved. Their father, Thankachan, had worked as a loading worker at the Karikode warehouse under the State Warehousing Corporation. After his death, the elder son Jinchu took up his job. According to the police, Linchu had been angry over this and had been demanding the job for himself, which led to frequent arguments.
