Eloped with son's 14-year-old friend; 35-year-old woman booked under POCSO Act in Palakkad

PALAKKAD: A 35-year-old woman has been booked under the POCSO Act following a complaint of abducting a 14-year-old boy in Alathur, Palakkad. The woman has been remanded. She told the police that the boy had accompanied her willingly.

The incident occurred yesterday when the woman left town with the 14-year-old, and they were later found in Ernakulam. The woman, a native of Kunissery Kuthirappaara, had reportedly left home with the boy, who is a friend of her 11-year-old son.

The boy’s family started searching for him after he failed to return home following his school exams. Later, they learned that the boy was with the woman, prompting them to file a complaint with Alathur police. Subsequently, the police traced and found both of them in Ernakulam. Following the family's complaint of abduction, a case was registered against the woman, and later, charges under the POCSO Act were also added.
