Five cops stabbed in Thrissur while trying to nab accused

THRISSUR: Two police officers were stabbed while trying to nab an accused. The two injured cops are Chavakkad sub inspector Sharath and civil police officer Arun. The accused has been identified as Nisar Ameer (36) of Chakkara House in Manathala. The incident happened early Thursday morning.

The police reached the spot following the complaint of Nisar attacking his brother. Seeing the police, Nisar took a knife and tried to attack them. He stabbed the two while they were trying to subdue him. Both have been admitted to the hospital. The injured sub inspector will have to undergo a surgery on his hand.


Nisar attacked the rest of the team when they went to nab him after admitting the cops in a private hospital in the district. CPOs Harikrishnan, Aneesh and Hamd sustained injuries. Nisar has been taken into custody with the help of the locals.
