Girl sexually abused while watching film, mother, stepfather arrested

ALAPPUZHA: A minor girl was sexually abused by her stepfather in September 2024. The police have arrested the girl’s mother and her stepfather. The girl was sexually abused when she was watching a film at home. She narrated the incident to her mother, but she did not pay heed to it.

Her mother did not intervene even after the act continued. The girl later lodged a complaint with Mannar Police Station. Soon, the police arrested the two.

Meantime, the Vithura police arrested an auto driver who tried to rape a 14-year-old girl in an auto. The arrested auto driver is Shahabdeen (71) of Mitra Nagar in Vithura. He tried to abuse her when she was going home alone in his auto from school. Although the child informed her family about the incident, the family did not file a complaint due to the threats from him.

The child revealed the incident during counseling in school the other day. Vithura circle inspector Pradeep Kumar, sub inspector Muhasin Muhammad and his team arrested Shahabdeen. The accused was produced before the Nedumangad court and remanded.
