Losing life in private bus race, more action on death of student in Kochi

KOCHI: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) will be cancelling the license of the driver of the bus that hit a college student to death in Kochi. Govind (19), a first-degree student of Thevara S H College, had died yesterday. The bus driver identified as Sanal of Varappuzha is in the custody of the police. The private bus drivers in Kochi said that they are driving fast to meet the schedule and have no intention of harming anyone. The North Police have informed that more charges will be imposed against Sanal.

The accident occurred around 8 am on Saturday. Govind was coming down from the bridge near Ernakulam North Town Hall in a scooter. A private bus was coming at a high speed behind him. Meanwhile, the scooter's handle hit a part of the bus and he fell under the bus. The locals who rushed to the spot immediately took Govind to the hospital, but he died on the way. The bus named Nandanam, which operates service on the Eroor route, met with the accident.
