Major theft; Bag containing Rs 75 lakh stolen in Thrissur, probe underway

THRISSUR: A car-borne-gang robbed a person, who was sitting in a tea stall of Rs 75 lakh. The incident happened near Mannuthi bypass junction in Thrissur at 4.30 am Saturday morning. The bag containing money belonging to Mubarak of Edappal was stolen.


Mubarak had reached Mannuthi from Bengaluru in a private bus. After getting off the bus, Mubarak entered a nearby tea stall. At this time, a five-member gang arrived in an Innova and after a struggle with Mubarak, escaped with the bag containing money.


Atlas bus owner Mubarak told police that the bag contained money got from the sale of the bus. Mubarak in his statement said the numbers on the front and back of the Innova in which the robbers came were different. An investigation has been launched into the incident under the leadership of Ollur ACP. The police also suspect the possibility of hawala money.
