KANGANGAD: More details have emerged in the incident where a 14-year-old girl delivered a baby. The accused in the case and the girl's father aged 48 fled to the Gulf a month ago. Before that, he was living in a rented house with his wife and children. It is reported that the girl was abused during this time.

The girl gave birth at home on July 23rd afternoon. The girl was taken to a private hospital in Kanhangad after she started bleeding profusely. The incident came to light after this. The hospital authorities then informed the police. The girl in her statement initially said that she doesn’t know who is responsible for her pregnancy.

In an investigation, the police found that the accused is her father of Kodagu. The girl opened up when a decision was taken to conduct a DNA test. The investigation team then asked him to reach home. Accordingly, he reached Mangaluru airport the other day. The police caught him while he was returning home by train.

The accused has also confessed to the crime. A media reported that he had told the police that he had abused her only once under the influence of drugs. He has been remanded by the Hosdurg Judicial First Class (I) Magistrate Court. The girl’s baby has been taken into custody by the Child Welfare Committee.
