Murder after theft: Killed Darshita after stuffing explosives in mouth, friend arrested

KANNUR: The accused, who killed the houseowner’s daughter-in-law in Karnataka has been arrested after 30 sovereigns of gold and cash were stolen from a house in Kalyad. The theft took place on Friday at the house of K C Sumatha of Anchampura House near the Irikkur Pulli Vettakkoru Makan Temple. The police summoned Sumatha's daughter-in-law Darshita (24) as part of the investigation, but she was not available. Soon, Darshita of Karnataka was found murdered inside a lodge in Saligram. The accused in this incident, Darshita's friend Siddharaju, was arrested by the Karnataka police.


The Iritty police got information of her murder the other day. The police suspect the hands of Darshita and her friend in the theft. Siddharaju brutally murdered Darshita.
The murder was committed by stuffing explosives in her mouth and igniting them. It is reported that an electronic detonator used for explosions in quarries was used for this. Subhash, husband of Darshita is abroad.

Sumatha and another son, Suraj, had gone for work on Friday morning. After they left, Darshita locked the house and went to her own house in Karnataka with her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. The theft was noticed when Sumatha returned home at 4.30 pm. Gold of 30 sovereigns and Rs 4 lakh were stolen. The daughter-in-law was killed during an investigation into this incident.
