KOZHIKODE: The police have intensified search for a man in connection with the murder of his two elderly sisters. The two dead have been identified as M Sreejaya (71) and Pushpa (66) of Moozhikkal, who lived in a rented house on Florican Road, Karikkamkulam near Chevayoor.

Their younger brother Pramod is suspected to be behind the murder. The investigation is focusing on CCTV footage. A lookout notice has also been issued. His phone was switched off near Feroke railway station. The investigating officers also suspect that he may have boarded a train and gone somewhere.

Pramod had informed his relative in the early hours of Saturday that one of his sisters has died. When the relatives reached home, found the bodies of the two. The bodies were in two rooms, covered in white cloth and with only their heads visible. They tried to contact Pramod on the phone but could not get him. The locals said that it rang first but then was found to be switched off.

The postmortem report came out last evening. The report said both were strangled to death. A search was launched for Pramod after that. Pramod is a lottery dealer.
Pramod and his sisters had been living here on rent for the past three years. All three had health issues. Pushpa is a retired health worker. The family survived with her pension.
