KOZHIKODE: Perambra police have arrested a man after confirming that the death of his elderly mother was a case of murder. The deceased, Padmavathi, a native of Perambra, died on Tuesday. A post-mortem examination at Kozhikode Medical College revealed fatal head injuries, prompting police to treat the case as homicide. The accused has been identified as Lineesh, a native of Koothali.
According to police, an argument over property and financial matters allegedly led Lineesh to assault his mother. He is accused of striking Padmavathi’s forehead with his knee, causing critical injuries. The post-mortem also found multiple rib fractures.
Following the incident, Lineesh and several neighbours rushed Padmavathi to a private hospital in Kozhikode, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment. The murder came to light only after the post-mortem was conducted. The procedure was carried out at Kozhikode Medical College. Police said the accused is under interrogation, and further investigation is underway.
