THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Three SDPI workers have been arrested in connection with the incident where a DYFI ambulance was set on fire in Nedumangad. The arrested persons have been identified as Nedumangad natives Samad, Nadirsha, and Althaf. They were taken into police custody at around 10.30 am today.

Earlier, the police had registered a case against three SDPI workers for attacking Mullassery CPM branch secretary Deepu during the clash. In protest against this attack, DYFI workers vandalised an SDPI ambulance. CCTV footage showing masked youths damaging the vehicle had surfaced online. Following the incident, the DYFI ambulance was set on fire, allegedly by SDPI workers.

The violence is believed to be part of the ongoing political rivalry between the SDPI and CPM in Nedumangad, which has been tense for a long time. The arson attack on the DYFI ambulance reportedly came in retaliation for the vandalism of the SDPI ambulance by DYFI members.
